SOLID WASTE

The Solid Waste Division of the Public Services Department is responsible for collecting household refuse, yard debris, and recycling. The Village does not collect refuse on Village Observed Holidays, and collection resumes on the next regularly scheduled day.

Household Refuse

All household refuse is collected curbside twice weekly. Household refuse is collected at homes on the east side of Highway 5 on Monday and Thursday, while household refuse is collected west of Highway 5 on Tuesday and Friday. To ensure your refuse is collected, it is important that residents adhere to the Pickup Requirements. For residents who are unable to get their refuse curbside, the Village offers Assisted Pickup.  The Village prepares a  brochure highlighting the pickup schedule and the rules and regulations for household refuse collection.

The Village is currently implementing an Automated Arm Trash Collection System to pick up household refuse throughout the Village.

Yard Debris

Yard debris is collected on Mondays and Fridays from the first week in March through the second week in December. Beginning in the third week in December and going through the last week in February, Public Services staff collect yard debris only once a week on Mondays.

The Village prepares a  brochure highlighting the pickup schedule and the rules and regulations for yard debris collection.

 Recycling

Recycling is collected every other week, alternating between those homes that are East of Hwy 5 and those that are West of Hwy 5.  The Village prepares a brochure identifying the pickup schedule and the rules and regulations for recycling.

Please see the Village's list of Frequently Asked Questions for additional infomation.
