EMPLOYEE BENEFITS

In an effort to provide employees with quality of life at work, home, and in retirement, the Village offers a variety of benefits to its full-time regular staff. Following are highlights of our many programs:

  • Vacation hours accrual (based on work schedule and length of service)
  • Sick day accrual (no limit)
  • Eleven paid holidays per year
  • Medical insurance provided by CIGNA … no cost to employees, reduced cost for dependents
  • Dental insurance provided by Lincoln Financial … no cost to employees, reduced cost for dependents
  • Vision insurance provided by Principal … no cost to employees, reduced cost for dependents
  • Life insurance benefit of $25,000 … no cost to employees
  • Life insurance benefit of $25,000 to $50,000 (based on annual income) from NC State Retirement System
  • Supplemental voluntary insurance (accident, cancer, short term disability, long term care, term life) available through AFLAC
  • AmeriFlex debit card for health savings account
  • Dependent care account
  • Voluntary 457(b) plan through AIG VALIC
  • Voluntary participation in Prudential 401(k) plan (Village contributes 5% of base pay on employee’s behalf)
  • Required participation in NC State Retirement System (Village contributes 5% of base pay on employee’s behalf;employee contribution set at 6%)
  • Tuition assistance benefit of up to $500 per year per employee
  • Employee Referral Award of $300 for recommending a qualified candidate hired by the Village
  • Discount membership to FirstHealth Centers for Health and Fitness

Recognizing the contributions of our part-time staff, the Village offers several Part-Time Employee Benefits for those who are regularly scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week

Employees who work on an on-call or seasonal basis are invited to attend all employee functions, but are not eligible for the benefits mentioned above.

In addition to the many benefits the Village offers, employees are encouraged to participate in the several Wellness Initiatives held each year.

The Human Resources Department continues to educate employees about leading healthier lifestyles and being better healthcare consumers.
