The Financial Services Department is responsible for providing accurate and timely information regarding the Village’s financial affairs while adhering to the principles of integrity, quality, customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. The Financial Services Department is responsible for preparation of the Annual Budget and Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. We are also responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and purchasing. In addition, the Financial Services Department prepares a Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan that includes projected revenues and expenses of the Village during the planning horizon.

Also presented with this year’s CAFR was a Financial Condition Assessment.  The assessment compares selected financial information from the Village’s audited financial statements to that of our peer municipalities. The report is presented in a graphical “dashboard” format.  The reporting tool used to create the assessment was developed by the UNC School of Government and adapted for use by the Financial Services Department.

The Village's Fiscal Year 2008-2009 Budget was awarded the GOFA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. The Financial Services Department also consistently receives the Certificate for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
