CONSERVATION COMMISSION

The Conservation Commission was formed in 2003 as part of the Village’s Comprehensive Long-Range Plan to meet the conservation goals of Pinehurst. Since the Conservation Commission was established, it has become a large entity with six committees and many members. The Conservation Commission is currently chaired by Lorraine Tweed, a former member of Village Council. Over the past several years, the Conservation Commission has performed a number of activities including: educational workshops, Arbor Day, and promoting conservation by participating in community events. The subcommittees identify plants along the greenway and promote recycling, tree planting, water conservation and open space preservation. Additional information on the Commission and the sub-committees can be found in the Conservation Commission Presentation.  The six (6) committees of the Conservation Commission include:

Open Space

Tree Conservation

Water Conservation

Recycling and Hazardous Waste Disposal

Greenway Wildlife Habitat

Alternative Energy

The Conservation Commission typically meets the second Monday of every other month, beginning in January, in the Council Conference room of the Village Hall at 395 Magnolia Road, Pinehurst, North Carolina.
