• Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Financial Officers Association of the United States and Canada (1992 - 2007)
• Distinguised Budget Presentation Award from the Government Financial Officers Association of the United States and Canda (October 2007)
• Tree City USA from the Arbor Day Foundation (2006)
• International Association of Fire Chief's Award of Excellence from International Association of Fire Chiefs (August 2004)
• Life Safety Achievement Award from Residential Fire Safety Institute (2003-2006)
• 2007 Outstanding North Carolina Traffic Safety Community from AAA Carolina Motor Club Foundation for Traffic Safety (October 2007)
• 2007 Best Park of Moore County from The Pilot.
