GOLF CART REGULATIONS

The Village of Pinehurst has updated its golf cart regulations, allowing residents to utilize golf carts on Village streets under certain circumstances.   All cart owners wishing to drive on Village streets must obtain golf cart stickers by completing the registration form and submitting it at the Pinehurst Village Hall. 

Golf carts are permitted in all zoning jurisdictions except the Hospital District and the Office Professional District encompassing Page Drive, Aviemore Drive, Memorial Drive, and Regional Drive.  However, carts are only allowed on Village-owned streets where the posted speed limit is 35 mph or less. Those registering their carts will receive a packet of information including a map of roads that carts may operate upon. Carts may also park in any existing vehicle parking space.

Golf carts operating on Village streets must have a side view or rear view mirror for safety and if being driven one hour before sunrise or one hour after sunset, must possess front and rear lights. Please remember that all vehicular laws are applicable for carts and use extra caution while driving golf carts on public streets.  Cart owners should be courteous of vehicles to the rear and should pull to the right edge of the road and let traffic pass.  Click here to see the golf cart regulations in their entirety.

Cart owners need not bring their carts to Village Hall but must certify on a registration form that their carts meet the safety requirements.  The cost of the registration sticker is $5 and is good until December 31, 2011.
